I just picked up a Winchester 1894 chambered in .25-35 with a 26" round barrel and full length magazine tube (25 3/8"). The magazine tube did not have a spring and follower in it and I am in the process of picking them up.

My question s are:

What is the standard magazine capacity of a .25-35 with a 25 3/8" magazine tube?

How long should the magazine tube spring be (so I don't cut it too short and have problems loading the final round or leave it too long and short myself one round in capacity)?

Can someone fill me in on the answers to the above questions or point me in the right direction to find out. Thanks much.

I have the same rifle in .32 Winchester Special, your cartridge and mine should be similar in overall length, there both based on the same case. My rifle will hold 10 Remington cartridges in the magazine or 9 Winchester's, a little difference in length between the 2 companies cartridges.

Win71,

Thanks for the info. I found the spring and follower I needed and am ready to make her complete. Thanks again.

Got her all together and she holds nine rounds of Winchester .25-35 ammo. Ninth round goes in pretty easy, but when I tried a tenth, it stopped about half-way in. The spring ended up being approx 5 inches longer than the magazine tube. Thanks.
