Thanks ahead of time for anyone who can help me out. I just picked up a remington 572 fieldmaster and was curious to the manufacture date and did a quick index on the internet. The sight I went to told me to list the 2 letter code on the left side of the barrel and I did. xp tells me Dec 1967, but the code also has 2 numbers right next too the letters(xp45), and I didn't know if this tells me anything or not. Thanks again for the effort. Can't wait to log on to the forum and kill some time when not out plinkin.

I don't know the date of manufacture. One of those 572 Fieldmaster's was my first .22 caliber rifle, and do I sorely miss it! My grandfather gave it to me for Christmas when I was 10 years old, in the green and yellow Remington box, I still remember like it was yesterday. I used that little rifle on a trapline for a number of years, shot a truck-load of jack rabbits with it and lots of the Belding's Ground squirrels of southern Oregon. Theives releived me of that little rifle, along with the rest of my firearms at the time back in the summer of '82. I've found the BDL versions of that little gun, but never another ADL version like I once had.

Enjoy your little rifle, it's under-rated and an excellent field companion.

If I ever find one again at a non-extortion price I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Congratulations on your rifle.

God bless,
