Does anyone make a modern levergun in .405 Win?

Thanks.

I think there are several of the Winchester 1895's left that were made by Miroku a few years ago... They are getting spendy, though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did a bunch of searches here, and that 1895 seems to be the only option. Does anyone know if Marlin has ever chambered a gun for this round?

I think the Winchester 1895 was the only lever action rifle ever chambered for the 405 Win. I don't think the Marlin action is large enough, but I could be wrong.

That's is what I am beginning to find via more research . I guess I will need to get it in Winchester 1895 if I want one. Looking for a Xmas present for myself ;)

Thanks so much for answering.

How do I know if an 1895 is one of the Miroku made ones?

Unless it was one of the originals made from 1895 through around 1940, then it will be a Miroku made Winchester or Browning. Actually, I don't think the Browning run was ever offered in 405 Win.

If the rifle is a Winchester, those were made for USRAC by Miroku. They are fantastic rifles. Very accurate, strong, nice fit and finish. They were made under contract for USRAC by the Japanese rifle manufacturer Miroku. This the same company building the 1885 Winchester rifles and the Browning rifles and shotguns.

The only things I didn't like about mine were the addition of the tang safety and the original style buckhorn sights. Mine was originally a 270 Winchester that I had rebarreled and converted to 411 Hawk.

Another option in .405 Winchester caliber is the Ruger #1 single shot rifle.

Yeah, I saw some nice Ruger #1's on the gun auction site (not sure if I can name it here), but I am really partial to the lever guns. I have the bug really bad. I have been digging through all my boxes of hunting and gun magazines looking for articles on levers, even though I have read them millions of times already. (any suggestions on new magazines??).

Thanks for the suggestion. I may look at one of those if I have difficulty getting a .405 in a lever gun.

I bought one of those Winchester '95 remakes a couple years ago. It's one sweet shooter. I saw it on the rack with the case colored reciever and had to have a closer look at it. When I saw it was a .405 Win. I told the man behind the counter to "write it up".

Yep, I have been looking at those (only online so far). None of my local shops have lever guns. Not sexy enough I guess. Have you shot anything with your 405 yet?

No...other than paper and steel, it's been a safe queen to this point. I haven't hunted anything that would require a .405 in the time since I brought it home. It's comfortable to shoot and I can get about a 2" group @ 100 yards from the bench with the factory sights. I'm quite happy with it.

I've always been a fan of Winchester leverguns and Teddy Roosevelt was a man I've admired for some time. A Model '95 remake in .405 is about as close to owning what TR called his "Big Medicine" gun as I'm going to get.
