First hello to everyone! I have been hunting all of my life but I have to ask a really stupid question. I just bought a cva wolf for my son and we are trying to remove the barrel. I must be loosing my mind but can not get it off. We have taken the forearm off and broken it open but it will not come off. Any tips?

Thaks jay

Welcome to the forum Jay. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

I'm not familiar with that model, but I believe you can download the instructions from CVA for most models they sell or have sold. You might try there or perhaps some of our members can help you out.

Thank you. I have tried several web sites including cva with no help, maybe someone who has one can help.

Welcome. Call CVA, I'm pretty sure they have an 800 # at the back of their manuals. Good luck, Guy

Hello,Jay Woods;and welcome to the Forum.
I just got a Wolf for Christmas.I know a lot less about it then you,but I can read from the manual. The Wife has'nt wrapped it yet.
Page 11 mentions to: open the action and removethe breech plug
then remove the screw from under the foregrip then remove the forgrip from the barrel
then seperate the barrel from the action. This implies that it is a simple proceedure.
Did you remove the breech plug?

Hello Frank,

Yes I did all of that. Every break action gun I have ever had you removed that screw, removed the forearm and broke it over and and the barrel has come right off. I feel kind of dumb on this one. We went and shot it and it is really a nice little gun. I am really impressed. However, I still can't get the barrel off. I have tried everything including searching on the internet. The hinge pen is very tight. I tried knocking it out with a punch and a hammer, out of frustration I hit it several times pretty hard. It would not budge. Before I do anymore I am going to call them. I hate to do much more. I am sure I am missing something here, it couldn't be that hard.
You will really like it though, it really shoots nice and at 100 yards just proping on the tailgate of my truck we where shooting pretty good groups, We put a fairly cheap bass pro shop off brand scope on it. It is my son's, but I think I am going to buy myself one. I am laughing, I just wish I could take it apart to clean it real good. If you have any luck let me know and I will do the same.

Merry Christmas,

Jay

This probably isn't much help, but I ran across an old double barreled shotgun, a Fox or Lefever IIRC, that required some additional work to get the barrels off the action. I stopped while I was ahead, as I couldn't find any instructions.

My first rule of gunsmithing, go easy with the hammers and the prying. I still have emotional scars and a pile of scrap to show for my transgressions.

Jay,I've reached the age where I am growing "down".I just can't handle a medium heavy rifle ;no matter how nice it looks.Ofall the ML 's that I got hands on experience with, the little Wolf stood out as my favorite. That was long before I checked the price.
I really did'nt have any trouble finding it.I actually bought it myself.
