I decided that my new Hartford 38/357 really needed a better rear sight. It's just too difficult to center the bead in the u. I settled on a Marble Arms #95 Folding Sportting Rear sight rather than going to the effort of drilling and tapping to install a tang sight. You can imagine my discomfort when I drifted the old sight out and found that Rossi doesn't cut their dovetail to the standard 3/8 but rather to 10 mm. Ouch! After googling the problem for a few I finally came up with a fairly simple solution. I grabbed a six inch length of the soft iron wire I keep on my bench, it's about .025 in., wrapped it around the barrel through the dove tail, forced into acute angle at the front of the slot, and twisted it together under the forearm, using a rag to protect the wood. Then I carefully forced the new sight into the dovetail being sure to keep it flat and square with the barrel. It went in just as tight as a normal dovetail. When I was done I just trimmed the excess wire and it looks like factory! Oh, my eyes!!
