Looking for info on 300 IMP

It simply has 300 IMP stamped on barrel, I just got the gun from an estate, its on a very nice Sako AV action and before I pull the barrel I would like to know more about the caliber.

if it's the 300 h&h improved it's just a sharp shouldered weatherby. i'd bet that's probably what it is. you should do a chamber cast.
