I have a 1971 Marlin 444T in mint condition. This appears to be a some what rare gun. Can anyone tell me what it's worth? Any history about it? This gun is not even mentioned in the Brophy book.

There's a picture of a 444 T on page 265 of Brophy's book, the one on top with the Monte Carlo stock, he just left off the 'T'. They are not rare, want to sell it???:D

Thanks, I missed that in the book. Not interested in selling, sorry. I actually mailed Marlin for some information. All they would tell me that the gun was manufactured in 1971 and the 444T was a very limited production compared to the other 444 series of that generation.

Send a PM to Ranch Dog. He keeps a spread sheet of recnt selling prices for all sorts of Marlins on the various WWW auction sites. He is also about as knowledgeable as anyone on handloading, bullet casting, and performance on game, especially hogs and deer. The .444T is Ranch Dog's go to hunting gun.

kwh1971... I just answered your PM concerning the rifles. I love mine and I like I mentioned to you, only one year of a production run for the T (1971). I'd be very nervous around a NIB rifle. I've have/had a couple and pretty much always end up shooting them! I do have a NIB 375 that I've managed to keep my mits off of by putting it in the very back of my safe.

I did have a program that monitored AA and GB auctions and recorded sale prices on 375s and 444s but with the computer problems I experienced in late summer, never got it up and running again (just have't worked on it yet). I did go back and look and in a two year period there was only 2 "T"s in the data, their average price was $466. The models prior to 1971 averaged $410. This is all of the rifles on these two sights sold between 02/03/05, and 08/26/07.
