What is the word from folks that have these? I handled one today and I was impressed of coarse with the price but the feel and look were good too. I checked the web site and it is listed as a Hi Standard- API Product. What does that mean? The guy did say it was made in the Phillapeans. Are the regular HS models made here?
I am really considering this 45 for a carry weapon. It feels good and would carry good. The versitility of a 1911 with parts and all is appealing. It is only a 6 and 1 for capacity but will work with a full 1911 mag for target. The barrel is 3 1/2" but so are a lot of compacts and I have shot them well.
So what is the skinny?

This is the first time ever on this board I have not received a response. I have to assume that no one has this weapon or experience with this weapon. That says a lot. See even when you don't get a response you get an answer.

I have continued to search the net and ask questions of folks that know guns and I have got nothing. This is very strange indeed. I think I will give up.

If they are made in the Phillipines, they are same as the Rock Island 1911s.

I thought I would throw this thread back to the top in case the word has got out on this 45. I have still got nothing.

I haven't seen the High Standard, but like mattsbox99 I'd assume they are basically the same as the Rock Island and Charles Daly pistols. My experience has been with the Charles Daly, and I have been 100% satisfied.

Just bought a High Standard Crusader Compact at Cabelas for $449. First time out shot 100 rnds with 4 misfeeds. The gun came with one mag stamped Novak. Took mag apart and cleaned and sanded/polished edge of feed ramp (mag), also bought Wilson Combat mags. Second outing perfect! Love the gun. The steel frame gives enough weight that it has little recoil; very manageable. Novak sights are great; pretty accurate. Love the large ambidextrous safety. I also changed the grips to Rogue. Bottom line: so far great. Of course I haven't shot enough through it to know the longevity. The owners manual is from Armscor in the Phillipeans same as Rock Island.
