seems like an ideal lever gun scope
I have 2 of the newer Weavers, a 2-7 rimfire and a 3-9x33 AO rimfire
I think both have good glass
the 2-7 is defintely nicer glass than the comparably priced Nikon Prostaff and the 3-9 seems better

priced around 160, compact and light, 75 yard parallax setting makes sense for a brush gun and the diamond reticle is nice for fast aquisition

seems ideal but I don't read of anyone using one on the lever guns, the 2.5 fixed and 1-3 variable get recommended all the time here..

anyone using one?

I have two Weavers, a 3 by 9 Classic and a 2 by 10 Classic and they are good glass. If your considering buying a new one I'd look around for something else in the same power range from Leupold or Burris. It took me months to get the brand new 3 by 9 repaired broken in the box new.

When Meade Optics bought out Weaver, Simmons and Redfield from Blount/Alliant the warrentee work went down the drain. They may be good optics, but if you ever need it fixed it's a royal pain in the behind.

As far as the magnification range it's ideal for the type of hunting your planning with it, heck I even like that mag range for my magnum bolt guns.

I have 3 Weavers a V9,V10 and K2.5 on my 30-30. They are all good glass. I have heard other stories like Bobs. If you get one mail in the warranty card. I am looking for a new scope for a Winchester 94 big bore. I will go with the Leupold VX1 1-4 it's under $200.

I had my finger on the click to order button on the Weaver 2x7 back around Christmas. I read Bob's story and have heard of a few others like Bob's on different sites. With the Leupold I know it's covered. I own 4 other Leupolds and have never used the warranty but it's nice to know it's there!
