Hey guys,

Is it true that in NY state you have to be a resident for six months before you can even touch a handgun? Is it also true that it takes about 6 more months to get licensed to own a handgun? I'm moving from Md to NY soon and the info I've gathered seems conflicting.

Dave gave you the right scoop.
In New York,the regulations are set by the individual Counties,and vary quite a bit from oe to another.
Also,the administration of these rules is determined by the individual Cities and Towns within the County.These also vary quite a bit.
I applied for my Licence when I lived in the City of Newburgh,and waited 6 months without any response.I then moved about 3 miles to the Town of New Windsor,and reapplied.It was handled in just 2 weeks.
