& now I have to find taller scope rings to fit my target scope. I don't know where to pick them up....recommendations?

Contact Ruger. I belive that they will swap you for the ones that came with the rifle, or you can purches new ones and keep the ones that came with the rifle.

Ruger swapped my rings when I bought my M77 Target Gray. They shipped me the tall ones and I sent the medium ones that came with the rifle back to them.

Thank you guys! The local store had a pair of stainless ruger 'tall' rings but I didn't purchase them. Worked out well & I will contact ruger about a swap. Thanks again!

Yep - that's what I did when mounting a big objective ring scope on my, then new, M77 V/T stainless. Ruger was very accomodating and fast in response. Worked so well, I called again and explained a problem with the single-shot 1B in not being able to acquire proper eye relief without crawling the stock. They sent me an extended rear mount set to correct the problem.
