Looking for a CC revolver for the wife, and maybe for myself. Started just looking for her, but found a model I like too. Looked at several makes/models but I think we have settled on a Taurus 651 Protector in .38spc/.357mag. Anybody have any good/bad reports on this pistol? Thanks.

I really like a five shot light revolver for a carry gun. Mine fits in a pocket holster and just disappears in a front jeans pocket. The only caveat I can give you is a 357 is to much power for this light a gun. It takes lot of practice and real control to handle 25 ounces and under loaded with 357 mag rounds. If you've never shot one do so before buying.

Now the 38 special plus P loads such as Speer's 135 grain Gold Dots work fine and are controllable.

Here's my Taurus Ultra-light and the pocket holster it goes in.

Love mine, it's the 7-shot Ti. Like Bob says the lightweight guns are a real handful with .357s.

Thanks for the comments. The model I am looking at does not have a "real" hammer. It is a seriously bobbed hammer, shrouded hammer I think they call it. But the rest of the gun is the same. Fully intended on .38's in the pistol, especially for the wife. Just like the .357 chamber so I don't have to have a lot of separate brass layin around. Got plenty of .357 cases, but don't want to make them .38 special.

faucettb, who the holster maker? I'm looking for a similar holster for my Taurus 445 in .44 Special.

It's a Uncle Mikes pocket holster and their 11 bucks at Sportsman's Warehouse or Cabela's.
