Hi,Iam new to the foroum but have a lot of years in black powder shooting. Two things worry me about todays shooters.First they should measure their sites before shooting at the range. You would be Quite surprized at how many sharps rifles out of the box sites are off as much as 1/8 of a inch.use a simple ruler and check both front and back sites.alot of them get frustrated and put their rifles up for auction,at greatly reduced prices under what they paid for them. Why ?cause they cant get on target at 100 yards.Another reason is that many shooters do not know how to use a long range soule site correctly.First of all remove the rear barrel site from the rifle! Why because it will be in the way of the soule site line up for 100 yards. The correct setting to get on target for 100yds is zero.up 11/100s for two hundred yards and up to 23/100s for 300 yards.I chuckle when I see auctions saying I shot a 1 1/2 grouping with this rifle at 100 yards and the soule sie is about 5-8 inches up the shaft. They would be shooting a hundred yards over the target. If any one needs help you may email me and I will be more than happy to help you.I am 60 years old and have been shooting more than 30 years.I can even give you the best loads blackpowrder for 45/70 and 45/ 90. You dont need an expensive sharps or rolling block to shoot good:) I have c sharps, shiloh sharps And Taylor sharps as well as two originalremington rolling block with patent dates of 1865 and 1900 # 1 sporters. The taylor sharps with a midrange soule site has out shot other way more expensive sharps,If you use the right dia bullet and charge.Hope this general info helps a lot of shooters,For more detail info dont hesitate to email me ,Iam here to help.thanks Wayne
