How about your favorite guns and loads please! Mine is a 5.5"redhawk 41magnum with one of marshall's 280g on top of 21g of h110 for 1300fps. Maybe one of these days I will actually get to take a deer or bear with it. They seem to vacate the woods when I have that gun in tow.   doug

Doug,

You know that this is an unfair question... we all have multiple favorites!

Well here's my best game harvesting load:

Marlin 444 BTB .432"-330gLFNGCDCG/56.0g H335/WLPP/Rem Brass/C.O.L. 2.53" /2225 fps

Crimp with Lee Factory Crimp Die.  Superbly accurate, feeds in all .444's, both Marlin and Winchester.

Obnoxious to shoot, and very deadly upon arrival.

Enough said!

God Bless,

Marshall

My favorite .44 Magnun load is one Marshall suggestrd...250 gr 44 LFN / 13.7 grs AA5 @ 1200/1300 fps out of 7 1/2 barrel.
Last count was nine deer so far this year(I think) with this load @ ranges 40 to 75 yards- D(ead)O(n)B(ullet)A(rrival) deer went between 0 and 15 yards..Most broadside, with a couple of quarter shots. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK! Oh Yes..one was with the bullet in a Hornady Green Sabot/100 grs Elephant Brand FFg in A TC Encore.
Best Regards from Old Town Hammock....James

28.0 gr of H-110 behind  a BTB 310 WLNGC for 1400 fps out of my little ole .45 Colt Redhawk with a 5 1/2" barrel. Quite the little handful but very accurate!
35.0 gr H-110 behind the same bullet for 1700 fps out of my .454 Super Redhawk and just under 1" at 25 yds.
This gun and bullet has given me two nice deer this year, one at 30 yds and the other at 115 yds. Cant wait to try it on something  bigger!

God Bless

Chris is this a 5 shot 45 Colt? That is quite a bit of powder for a standard 6 shot cylinder. Just curious, Brian C.

As of now I do not have a favorite load. As soon as I get caught up with work, probably around March, as I do snow removal. And In Jackson Hole, one thing we can depend on is snow. But then I will be trying a load for my 375 H&H that Marshal suggested. Once i do i will get back to you all and to Marshall. Happy New Year to everyone.

This is for Brian Carlson: No Brian this is not a 5-shot .45 it is a standard .45 Colt Redhawk with the 6-shot cylinder. It shoots this load into 1 1/2" at 25 yds. These Redhawks are very strong, alot stronger than a typical Blackhawk, and I know lots of people who take those guns up to 1300fps with a 300gr cast bullet. And as I stated one of the most popular sixgun smiths on these boards said I could take that gun and load up to 30.0 gr of H-110! Personally I won't take it that far, it really is not needed. A 310gr LBT going 1400fps is more than enough to take down just about anything.

For Chris Gage. Thanks for the clarification. I had no idea the Redhawk was that much stronger than the Blackhawk. I had an older Blackhawk and shot 300 grain hard cast bullets with 24.5 H110 for 1350 fps and figured I had better not go further. Who is the gunsmith you mentioned? I am now working with a 7.5" Ruger Bisley 45 Colt 6 shot and the Beartooth 340 gc using 21.0 grains of H110. Accuracy from sandbag rest with 2x scope is about 1" at 25 yards. I do not know what the velocity is. I hope to try Marshall's new 345 gc soon. Regards, Brian C.

For Brian:
The Gunsmith was Mr. Linebaugh himself. He is a very interesting man to talk to to say the least!

Don't use this unless you have a FA revolver, and it is listed as max in it.
.454 Casull
355 gr. LBT LWNGC .452 bullet
31.5 gr. H110
CCI SRM #450 primers
1793 fps.
Cases drop from chamber under their own weight.
2.5" five-shot groups at 150 yards.
Awesome!

Who doesn't think that other 454's can handle it as well?  ie the Super Redhawk 454 and Raging bull 454.
