I use 65 grains of GOEX Cartridge black powder compressed 2/10" under a Walters .030 veg. fiber wad. My bullet is cast from Lyman's 457193 mold which weighs 416 grains with 30 to 1 lead-tin alloy. this is a flat nose bullet. I size it to .458 and lube with SPG. Maximum over all length cannot exceed 2.550 inches. Velocity out of a 22 inch barrel is about 1150 fps. This load is capable of taking any game animal in North America.
I would be glad to go into greater detail regarding loading equipment and proceedures if you wish.

Well I'm new to cartridge reloading but an old time Black Powder shooter. What do you think of Lee molds and presses?

I have alot of lee products around 10 molds of theres and dies and presses and other things never really been disappointed in any of it, For the money it's hard to beat.
The thing about reloading equipment, none of the manufactures make junk it prudy much
all gets the job done.Just pick what you want to spend AND MORE BUCKS DON'T MEAN IT'S BETTER! One place you do not want to get cheap is your scale.

I have several Lee furnaces for melting my lead and they work well. However, I use Lyman and RCBS molds because they both have top punches that fit my Lyman 4500 lube-sizer. SAECO also has Lyman/RCBS top punches available for their mold designs. It may be possible to find a top punch that reasonably fits the nose contour of bullets cast in Lee molds, but I've never seen any charts or cross reference data. Lee has their own system for lubing and sizing their bullets. It is a simple operation, but slow, and somewhat messy.

Reminder that how many grains is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to BP. You do not want any airgap between bullet and powder. Measure from the crimp groove to bullet base and add wad thickness. Determine how much powder it takes trickled down a drop tube and then whatever compression desired to fill the case leaving no gap.

Shoot FFG or FFFG Swiss and a 457193 or 456192. Or the RCBS 45 300 FP GC. Load for about .030" compression of the powder. Use an over the powder wad with the Lyman designs. I would use Remington LP primers.
Use a long drop tube and pour slow. Swiss is hard to compress and its really not needed. The 457193 or 192 is good enough for Elk or Bison. The 300 is a good deer load. Use soft cast 1:30-1:40 tin:lead.
Goex will show a velocity reduction over Swiss that cannot be overcome by over pressing the powder. Heavy compression often results in high velocity variations. Compared to drop tube and .030" compression.
I shoot black in my 1895 but I put a 26" Douglas barrel on it.
