I own two Traditions ML's one is a replica style and the other is an inline. Both were very inexpensive (under $200) and both shoot way beyond my capabilities. The only thing they are used for is an occasional deer hunt. The inline is what I use when I hunt now and it is teh Buckhunter model and is about 10 years old. For some reason I have decided I need a newer and perhaps a little nicer inline. My question is, what brands/models would you recommend. I'd like to stay under $500. I am also thinking of perhaps something that might be easier to clean. I apprecaite any suggestions. JayE

My favorite was one that is no longer in production, but you can find some real buys on them if you look around. I had a Remington 700 ML which is built on the Remington 700 short action. Mine was a stainless 54 caliber and shot fantastic groups. It's also rated for 150 grain powder loads. I got a near one inch group with the 465 grain Hornedy Great plains minni balls.

My 2 sents.

savage smokeless powder muzzleloader, need to check out your state laws to make sure you can deer hunt with it tho, in my area they sell for about $500,00 , friend of mine has one very good shooting gun, dont have all the cleaning like you do with a black powder gun.

fullthrottle275, I always thought hedgeapple made the best fence post and I got plenty of hedgeapple. Thanks for the advice on the cva, just what I was looking for. There is a big sports show near me over the weekend and I thouhgt I might go nose around. As I said, I not very knowlegeable, but back when I bouhgt my Traditions, seems like Thompson Center and Knight were two of the more popluar brands.

as faucettb said the rem 700 m/l is a great buy. don`t know why bottom fell out on price. i bought .50 cal. when they 1st came out,i`m thinking around $325 or so. now you can pick one up for around $150. mine`s accurate and cleans o.k. bolt ***`y is its biggest cleaning downfall. bought a encore pro hunter and absolutely love everything about it. it`s a bit more than $500 but a definite to look at. its accurate, shoulders well, low recoil with magnum charge and cleans like a dream. goodluck:D

I would check out the new Knight KP1. Interchangeble barrels like the Encore but the action guts are easily removed for cleaning (unlike the Encore)

I bought a TC Omega last year for 350.00. It is the Z5 Omega with the laminated hardwood thumbhole stock. It's a good shooter and very easy to clean plus TC makes a quality firearm.

I'd go with the Knight KP1, or the KRB:)

The ability to get other barrels for the KP1 would sway me to that side;)

I got a cva kodiak 50 cal. for Christmas. I haven't got a chance to shoot it yet but it feels great. I got the kit that comes with the bullets, scope, cleaning stuff, etc. The Bushnell scope it comes with is a 3-9 and really isn't all that bad. Whatever muzzleloader you get i hope you like it.

My friend, if you look at the web site, Sportmansguide.com, you'll find alot of great inlines at greatly reduced prices. I bought a Knight rolling block muzzleloader from them for alittle over 250 dollars. I bought a CVA kodiak in 45cal for 119.00 dollars. They have a bunch of different guns for sale, also they have some good deals on scopes. Check it out.

Butchb isn't lying. I have ordered several items from sportmansguide for much less than what it cost to get at a store. I am very satisfied with them.

Here's a few more good online stores for ya. Natchezss.com, and Midwayusa.com. right now Natchezss is having one heck of a scope sale going on. For example, a Bushnell 3200 Elite 2x7x32, with firefly for 119.00. Thats one heck of a deal. Check them out for yourself, happy drooling.
