I have benn hunting South Carolina now for a few years. My cousin has a small 400 acre "farm" outside of Walterboro.
He's always told me that everything happens that last minute of shooting light, and I am starting to buy it- almost every shooter buck I've seen has been right at dark. My old club in Wanesboro Ga. was just the oppisate(most bucks taken in the AM)

Anyone else hunt in this area?

I have been hunting Cottageville SC, as well as other places around the Charleston area for about 26 years. I have killed 2 'monsters' in the a.m., and both of those were jumped on the way to my stand. (lucky shot on the first one, but the second jumped and stopped) All of the others I have taken have been 2 or 3 min. before the time I had decided to come down from the stand. I don't know what it is about this area, but it seems to be the 'rule'

We have learned that when they start that nocturnal movement there will be a mid day movement too. It makes for some long days. Think what it is like out there the 1st our after all the lights go out and all the noise calms down.

That Noon to 2 movement is really when we should be in the stand but I just love camp lunch and catching a little of the Clemson game on the radio.
