Good Evening Hunters!
I have a friend that is a paraplegic and is getting into hunting. He is an excited pisto shooter and is eager to learn. Our Iowa deer season was a learning experience for both of us. It was his first time and my first time with him. I would like suggestions on ground blinds and shooting sticks. He can hunt from his vehicle, but it isn't very conducive to seeing deer at pistol range. Thanks in advance.

Can he sit on a ATV? get on and off one? Perhaps something along those lines would free the fella up increasing his hunting experience. A large camo cover for the car maybe.
OBTW my hats off to you my man for taking the guy.
I have ridden motorcycles with a gal that kept her wheel chair in a sidecar, all of her controls were converted for hand use.
I've killed a bunch of deer while sitting on the ground leaning against a tree. Try to pick a spot just under the crest of a hill with a good view. Some kind of blind couldn't hurt but I never much fooled with it much or camo either for that matter.

Yes, he can get on/off an ATV. The main problem is his getting cold. I thought that a blind would keep the wind off of him. I have recently found a place with an old barn. If he can do the long drive time to/from the hunting area, perhaps he can set in that.

Snowmobile suit perhaps or maybe a extra battery on an isolator so his ATV will always start, and electric suit like made for motorcycles.
We rode our scooters into Fallon Nevada one cold snow squally day dressed like the Michelin man from the cold. Rented a room because of snow on Montgomery pass, ended up riding through Death Valley the next day to avoid the Mtns. A while later a guy rides in on a nice new BMW, dressed in a nylon suit like a cool spring day, and rents another room. We found out he was wearing a thermostat controlled electric suit. Now that is something your buddy can stay cozy in almost any cold. He can buy a jacket, pants, gloves, even socks, or an entire suit, set the thermostat, enjoy his hunt, warm and relaxed.
It was Hawthorn not Fallon, Fallon was earlier.

Gerbing's Heated Clothing (http://www.gerbing.com/) is the place to get this stuff. I owned a complete suit and I wore it year round, rain or shine. I wore it one trip on the bike when it was 18 degrees F. This is a quality product, made in America but good people!
