Is this thing for REAL? Measures within 1/10 th of a grain 75% of the time, the other 25% it's right on! I still check every charge on a digital scale 2 times. Best $ 19.99 I ever spent. Who da thunk it?

Had one for years and use it whenever loading batches of handgun cartridges. Only problem is fine grained powder leaks around the drum.

I havent got anywhere near that sort of confidence with mine, maybe its my technique, but I always use it to throw a lighter load then trickle up on the scales to where i need it to be.

It’s not a bad measure for the money. Mine leaks fine grain powder and I no longer use it for that reason. I fiddled with the adjustment screw and found myself having to pull down on the handle so hard that the whole measure looked like it was going to pull off the the little stand. My hunting buddy recently bought a RCBS model and I had the chance to use it at his shop. Much easier to use. No leaking but it still gets a little hard with the fine grain powders but I think it is a much better measure. More of a solid feel to it. I think I am going to get the RCBS powder measure and retire my Lee.

There's one been on the bench for years and it's name is the best description for it. I've had the same results as you. It does tend to leak fine grained powder til you get it adjusted correctly, but it's accurate as the dickens. I just added one of the case activated pistol measures to the bench last month.

Here's my powder measure stand set up with three measures, though for hunting ammo I tend to use the RCBS electronic dispenser and scale my old shooting partner brought down last year.

This is the setup that sees the most use anymore.

Yup. I've never owned a Le, but I hear lots of people saying pretty much the same thing about them: highly accurate but troublesome with fine spherical powders.

I have three measures also. My primary is the same model of RCBS Bob uses. I use it mainly for load-workups when I do only five or ten rounds of the same powder/weight. For sessions where I load lots of the same charge, I switch to my JD Quick Measure, which is a superb mechanical powder measure. I also have an older Hornady measure with rifle and pistol drums that was my primary measure for many years and is now in semi-retired backup status along with a Hornady beam scale.

Bought one about 8 monthes ago, mostly based on what I've read on the 'net. Beat my 25 year old RCBS Uniflow for consistancy and accuracy. Does leak some with finegrain propellants, but works very, very well for extruded stick powders.

I love it for extruded and "flake" powders and despise it for ball powders. I have tried numerous times to "adjust" it to work with ball powders and it always leaks. Otherwise it is an outstanding measure. I don't expect it to last as long as my RCBS or Harrrell nor do I expect to wear it out any time soon. If mine breaks tomorrow I'll happily buy another.

I just got my 1st. The directions are pretty clear except in one area. Does the metering rod get turned for the number to the right of the decimal? It seems the thimble does everything else. I have read all directions several times.

I am setting up as I go, and trying to read everything several times before taking the next step. I tend to be a little impatient, and thought it best to take my time in matters of explosives.

Thanks from a rookie,

Ric

Ric, the thimble only turns as a lock ring, the rod turns to units, tenths (marked on the rod) and hundredths (marked on the thimble/lock ring.)

I use one and once I get it set it works real well but I sometimes have trouble getting it adjusted.

i've used a lee perfect powder measure for quite a few years now and i've always found it to be consistant and accurate..... i measure flake powder like bullseye and such and it's never leaked a flake.... i use it in conjuction with my lee scale so i don't go by the little gauge on stem of the measure.....

i had the lee perfect powder measure, worked ok till i used fine powders,
these powders would really bind the lever. picked up a rcbs with broken hopper for free,a call to rcbs fixed that problem.

recently i purchaased a lee classic turrret press, and a lee pro auto disc
measure,it's not perfect, but it does the job for me. dan

The Lee Powder measure works great with the Ramshot powders too. I just used it last night, excellent metering, and the ramshots are a ball powder. Les

OHAUS has a reputation for excellance in their scales( when I was in LE we always found OHAUS Scales in all of the drug users & sellers homes & businesses)I bought one of these in the early 70's for about $43 when all other measures were $20,it has dual chambers for rifle & pistol with micrometer adjusters this is very accurate with flake & ball powders, the sc hodgdon powders meter better that the standard extruded. This was the best mechanical powder measure made & nothing will beat it for accuracy imo, until the electrics came on the mkt , I found another used one on E-Bay & purchased it.

I have no problem using rifle powder but as soon as I use fine powder it seems to not weight out consistently. To be on the safe side I weigh every 5th load. It is a pain but a little faster than weighing every load. I use it only when loading rifle rounds.
