I happened across a blued Vaquero in a pawn shop today with Ruger ivory grips and an engraved cylinder with a gold or gold colored inlay. They were asking $650 for it. I thought it was high but I know that there were some comemoritives made like the John Wayne, etc. that were more expensive when new. Does anyone have any information on these or could tell me where to look? That thing was beautiful. I was tempted to look closer. I may go back and look closer in a week or two.

I can't tell you about the price, but my old shooting partner just bought a brand new one in stainless for around 450 bucks from a dealer in Lewiston, ID. That seems a little high to me.

If the one you saw has gold inlay or other custom touches it could well be woth 650 or more. I finally found an older model Birdshead Vaquero in Stainless with the 3+" barrel today, after a long search, and I gave a tad over $300 for it and it's in great condition. From what I've read on here and other forums the older Vaqueros are stronger than the later ones, which are scaled down. If you could get the dealer to tell you what has been done to the one you saw, or if it's a special offering, you might be able to get a better idea of the real value. Regards; Al
