Grabbed the rifle after work tonight and went to pound off the usual 2-300 rounds before supper and found that the loading gate on the reciever would not open and allow for loading. It moves about 1/32 of an inch but then hits something that prohibits full swing of the gate. If I open the action slightly, I can feel the gate open slowly, and by the time the action is open all the way, the loading gate will open then also. I looked down in there and didnt see anything bent or in the way, anyone have any idea's ? ( I know, can you diagnose the miss in my minivan while your at it?) I did attempt to load the gun with the action open and the rounds wouldnt stay in the tube, not sure if this would be charactoristic of the loading gate problem or not.

First , I would remove the stock and flush out the action with your favorite spray lube or solvent . Then some gun oil & see if things improved any .

If that does not work , you will find a FAQ below on disassembly of the 94 ;

As I replied to my original post in Lever General, I think my loading gate issue stems back to my bullet flying out of the magazine problem. The little spring on the lever was bent and hanging up, holding the loading gate closed, I think this part also aids in keeping bullets in the mag tube. Not sure of the correct name of the piece but I will call around tomorrow and try to get the part in the mail.
