I just purchased one of the new Ruger M77 Hawkeye rifles in .358 winchester. I've always wanted to own a bolt action rifle in this cartridge and thought i'd better jump on the new chambering before they quit making them.

I'll probably use H322 for 150-200 grain bullets, but Varget looks like it might work well in this bullet range.

Is anyone here reloading .358 Winchesters with Varget?

Thanks if you can help.

I have and I've tried Varget with the 220 Speer and 225 Sierra GK.

With the 220 Speer, I was able work up to 52.0 grains and at 24 degrees chrony'd it at 2460 fps in a Browning BLR with a 20" barrel.

With the 225 Sierra I worked up to 51.0 grns and chrony'd it at the same temp with a 5-shot average of 2457 fps.

I've had, for the most part, better results with IMR 4064, esp with the 200 grain bullets.
