Does anyone know how good the bear hunting is in the Cherokee Nat Forest south of Marysville TN? I am looking to set up a bear hunt for next year in TN. My sister in law lives just north or the Cherokee Nat forest and it would make for a much cheaper hunt if me and my buddies could bunk at her place. I am interested in a do it yourself hunt but would go with an outfitter it that did not work out. Any info on this area will be appreciated.

Hey Jodum!

The hunting is fine in that area. Also, a consideration might be in the Polk county / Greasy Creek area of the Cherokee National Forest. It's about an hour to and hour and a half south down 411 highway from Maryville. The entire area is incredibly scenic, as well as great fishing. Also, about halfway between Maryville and Greasy Creek is a gorgeous area called Tellico Plains. It's a great area for bear and hog, and also trout fishing, if your interested in that.

Thanks for the info. I got my brother in law working on getting me some info from some local hunters he knows. I know I have seen a lot of bears in that area while sightseeing. TN seems to be pretty reasonable on their tag prices to. I am always looking for another hunting adventure that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
