I'm looking for a scope for my 1895GS. I really like the Nikon Monarch 1.5-4.5x20. It's very bright. I like it's size as well, seems to fit the gun nicely. However I see Pentax sells a 2-5x20. I haven't seen the Pentax in person but I do know they make nice stuff. I can get a refurbed Monarch for 150 and I've seen the Pentax for the same price new. Does the Pentax offer anything the Nikon does not? Thanks

www.natchezss.com still had some Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x's a day or two ago, and some 2-7x Browning scopes built to the same specs.

I prefer the Nikons. Very clear optics and all around quality product for a reasonable price.

My choice would be the NIKON. The monark series has to have the best glass for the money. I have looked at the Pentax all though nice, just was not as clear as the Nikon's apple for apple. Hope this helps SP357

I shoot a 4x32mm Pentax, a buddy shoots a 1.5x4.5 Nikon. You would be hard pressed to find any major advantage from Either. Both are good. Jim

Thanks for the replies. It looks like a Monarch for me.

One thing to keep in mind is the Refurb Nikons only have a 90 day warranty. Although the Nikon glass is better.

Hope this helps
