I have maintained a logbook, using a Research Notebook, for many years, and document much the same data. It's an interesting exercise. I also have a tracking number to trace the date etc. of all of the loads I put in a box, also very handy.

By maintaining a Page/Item trail(Pg.42/Item #3, etc), I can have a complete history of accuracy, velocity, and brass life for a load. Good records is the difference between handloading, and case stuffing.

I like your format. I also use excel to keep my reloading records (must be a Winchester thing). It sure beats notes in the margins of a reloading manual. I also paste pictures of the groups I shoot on the spread sheet.

Yes, thanks from me too. A lesson learned experience - I kept detailed records of all my load development on my computer. When I needed to load something I just went and reviewed my records. I seldom (if ever) printed my data sheets as I would just go to the computer for reference. The hard drive failed and I lost everything I had. Now I print an updated version every time I make an addition or change to the data sheet. Fortunately I kept a hand written note in every box of ammo I loaded so I could go back and resurect my data.

I am no computor guy but I got it downloaded and made a shortcut so I can find it on my desktop. I hope it allows me to learn excel and store my load data. Thanks a lot. It looks very good. I use Marshall's paper record keeping system for field and now I can come home and enter it here and see if I get some value out of the info.

I guess I am not relating a shooting session to the data sheet. Dates are not there. Weather conditions. Do the rounds fired in the bottom section correspond to the number of the bullet at the top?

What about the firearm the round is fired from? Is that a new sheet with the firearm in the Cartridge info title. What about a comments section? Do you put those in?

I am really enjoying getting this set up. I am trying to go back and install old data. I sure wish I had this during the winter. Too much to do now.

You can view any of the data that I have posted by downloading one of the excel files I have listed on the page http://www.brleather.net/ReloadingData.html. Just list your data for each round to the right. First load info, then your grouping (largest of 5 shots then smallest of the same 5 shots), then list the chronoed velocities for those 5 shots. The rest will be calculated for you. :)

You can add whatever data you want to the page. The cells are not locked (at least I don't remember locking them). Just type in any open space the information you want to add for the loaded data.

do you know how to copy and past data from your spreadsheet to a post on this forum? I would like to share some data I put in your spreadsheet but I don't know how to transfer it to the forum I tried attaching it as a file but I guess xls files don't attach. I tried doing a ctrl c & v but it did not work. Have you got any ideas?

The spreadsheet is working great.

I wonder if the CTRL-C is copying the underlying formulas too. Try copying from Excel to Notepad, then from Notepad to Beartooth. You may have the option of saving as text too. If you can, paste that into Beartooth.

I think Jack is right. Try this:

Use the Excel Insert menu to add a worksheet. Select and copy the cells you want to post. Go to the new worksheet and right click on the upper left-most cell you want to include. From the small flyout menu that appears, select Paste Special. In the Paste Special menu check Values. Then paste. This will create an identical looking sheet that has no underlying anything, but just the last set of results.

Use the new page to copy to the forum. Select the cells you want us to see. If CTRL+C and CTRL+V are not working for you, substitute CTRL+Insert for copy and SHIFT+Insert for paste. These almost always work when other keystroke combinations do not.

Before pasting into the forum, type the word "code" surrounded by square brackets, followed by "/code" surrounded by square brackets. Paste your copied Excel file sheet right between the two bracketed texts. Using square brackets tells the forum to execute an HTML tag. That's why I can't actually type the brackets here to show you, or it will execute the code tag. The /code tells it the tag execution is done. What using the code tag will do is stop the system from automatically removing extra spaces and will force it to show what you have organized as you inserted it. Us the Go Advanced button on your editing window to see how it will actually look before you post it and to have an opportunity to make corrections.

I think that worked as good as it could. It did not come over right but I think it is codes in the original sheet that has it messed up. Good work and thanks for the help. I learned something today.
