Purchased a Puma M92 Stainless Steel 20 inch barrel in 45 Colt and wondering if there is anything that I might need to do, or could do before I shoot the rifle in CAS. All help is great and fully accepted.

I have two of them one .45lc and one .38/.357mag and I have found them very good, surprised me at first as I had to take the elevator out of the rear sight on the .45lc to make it hit point of aim @25 yards using 200grain projectiles in front of 5.5 grains of Trail Boss, both guns shot centreline out of the box.
Shooting long range with it @ 75 and 100 yards with 200grain projectiles in front of 6.5 grains of Trail Boss you sit the rear sight around the middle of the elevator and its on a sheet of printer paper.
Shoot a few hundred through it before doing any polishing, the thing that you will need to do is springs either replacement kit or shorten using the little by little method. Be very very careful though!!!
http://marauder.homestead.com/files/rossitune.htm this gives some good instruction on working on the Rossi Puma 92
They will never be the slickest shooter on the line, the main thing that I have found is if you short stroke it the round will stovepipe and that will slow you down.
For the price I think that they are exactly what they are, an honest gun that with a little work will be able to do the job up to a certain point.

Thanks Lazy Dave for all the info. I am thinking on sending it to Steve at stevesgunz.com he is the one that someone told me that does a jam up jelly tight job. He knows M92.

Lazy Dave has given you some good advice in that you should shoot this gun for a while and then evaluate if you need any work done on it. Should you need a good '92 gunsmith, Steve Young has an excellent reputation. I have dealt with Steve and can recommend his integrity.
