Yea I saw this to and was saddened. I had met him several times and he was a real gentleman.

Grits was the real deal and I'll certainly miss him. He introduced me to green timber shooting for mallards. He's certainly in good company now, like he wasn't before.

This just reminds me of that old country song( who's going to fill their shoes )!
My family are the most dear to me with Carolyn, my wife of 34 years being the best thing ever to come my way except God.
The shooting sports which I feel such a part of were introduced to me by such people as Grits Greisham, Skeeter Skelton, Jack O'Conner and the gunners Guru himself. I know there were many more who have already passed on into the next and final life and I couldn't possibly remember them all, but with each passing we lose a dear part of our shooting heritage.
I just hope that the new breed of writers will have the same affect on our youth that the old guys had on me. I just can't see that happening since the young people can't read thru an Ipod.

Yup, it's a sad day. He will be hard to replace. As was said before he was the real deal. He was one of the few who wrote the truth. If he didn't get the biggest deer, elk or whatever he wrote it that way and explained why and still had a great hunt.

A true outdoorsman in every sense of the word. I enjoyed everthing he ever wrote.

Grits, you will be truly missed.
