I bought some shells from a friend that sold his 45 Colt Rifle. Most were the CCI Blazers but one box was a brand name of 3D Blue. The box lists them as cowboy loads and factory new ammunition. The cases are brass not aluminum like the CCI. Are these suitable for reloading? I know if they were Winchester, Remington, Starline, etc. they are OK (provided they pass inspection) but I have never heard of the 3D Blue.

I've heard of 3D. If the cases are boxer primed, see no reason not to reload them. Since they were factory loaded as cowboy loads, they will have very conservative velocity and pressure so the brass will not be over stressed. Would work up a load for them same as any other case watching for signs of excess pressure. With lead bullets and mild loads, should not have any problems.

What's the headstamp? Thought I recall seeing the 3D brand, but it was commercially reloaded, not new.

I'll have to dig some out of my box of empty cases. I believe they just said 3D or 3-D and then 45 Colt.
