You might check game regs. Many places the .40S&W is below minimums for deer..

Welcome to the forum rozzi. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
I'm in the process of putting some 40's together this week. I'm using tight group powder and cast 155 grainers and cast 170 grainers. These are plinking and practice loads and are near the bottom end of the load group. I didn't even look at which brass I'm using, but I'm using CCI primers and they all shoot pretty good. When I'm loading for a new auto-loader I always just load a few to check if they work the action and how they group before loading a bunch.
There's lots of good powders out there. I try to select one that gives me a lot of loads for a pound of powder and is near the top of the load charts in the Lee manual. I usually don't load max loads as 10 percent under max usually gives better accuracy and usually only means a 2 percent drop in velocity.

Stick with the published data for all the measurements you posted. I loaded 165 gr RNFPs with Bullseye powder, win cases, and CCI primers. They shot very well from my Beretta 96.
