I have been shooting a Super 14" Contender barrel in 7mm T/CU since 1985 and it's one of my all time favorite factory chamberings in a Contender...

I shoot Sierra's 100 gr. Hollow Point / SPEER 145 gr. Grand Slam / SPEER 160 gr. flat base spitzer - Hot Cor and others but these three are my favorite...

With the three bullets listed above, 3-shot groups well under an inch are the norm...

My favorite powder is H-335 and my best friend Phil shoots H-322 and H-4895 in his Super 14" barrel with the same bullet weights. His gun will also consistantly pring 3-shot groups well under an inch at 100 yards...

Remington 7 1/2 primers work best in our barrels and for scopes, we both use Bushnell Trophy 2X-6X-32mm variable power. We also both use Pachmayr grips and forends...

Phil and I both have killed many deer and hogs with our 7mm T/CU's and have no complaints....

We used 7 TCU in 10 inch contenders and BF's for IHMSA competion. Shot 150gr out to 150 meters and 162 hornadys or 175 Remingtons on rams. 150's and 175's were bulk bullets from Midway and never sorted. 162's for shoot offs. We used a lot of 748, H-322, H-335, 2230, 2015br. The cartridge is not picky. Load the same load and set your sights. Never hunted with one because we had JDJ's and XP's that had more horse power. We used a lot of military brass and even got hold of a bunch of factory 7tcu brass from Europe. Easy to make, lasted well, usually discarded due to split necks. Back in early '90's, TC chambers were pretty bad. When you found a good barrel you hung on to it. If the case didn't eject easily, you were over pressure for that particular barrel. Used H-335 for shoot offs. It was not necessarily the best powder but it handled the heavier bullets well and when it went off, the concussion to the other competitors was unsettling. Never pass up an opportunity to acquire an edge. Like one of the greats, Ole Dude Bob Thomas once told me, " Take your time, you can not miss fast enough to win."
Enjoy your toys.

I glad to hear that there are some 7 tcu shooters out there. I used to shoot my Tc at IHMSA matches in the early eighties, it is a good little cartridge. I had not shot it for almost 20 years then last year I put a scope on my 14" barrel and worked up a load consisting of 31 gr of winchester 748 powder and a 100 gr sierra hollow point bullet, my little Tc will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards all day.
