Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has loaded the new barnes bullet in the 204 26gr. gernade.
Hey JB, I going to try an post a picture of my Savage Model 12. I placed a B & L 6 X 24 on top of it. I have not got out much this winter but I am hoping that I can use it for the next few months when I go down to the farm for calving.
It did not work.

Sask,
The last time I looked (a while back) they weren't out yet. But after my experience with the Hornady 32gr. 40gr. and Midway Dogtown bullets I don't think you would want to go that light. I use the 40gr. bullet on pigeons mostly. My results on the 10-15LB rock chucks is less than desired, and they almost refuse to kill a Coyote in less than a few shots.
...For what it is worth...

i have shot 6-8 coyotes this winter with a 34 grain bullet, and the 40 gr hornady, every dog ive shot and hit fairly decently within 400 yards it has put down on the spot, i love the 34 grain JHP made by winchester, try it out if he 40 gr aren't workin good for you

I couldn't get very good accuracy with the 34 Gr Winchester/MidwayUSA Dogtown bullets, but the 32gr Hornady/Nosler/Sierra and 40gr Nosler/Hornady/and 39gr Sierra shoot very well. I mainly shoot the Noslers. I'm shooting a standard barrel Rem 700 ADL.

no i dont think the rifle twist is slow enough for that bullet, but ive decided to use 32 grain sierra blitzkings in my low profile model 12, ive put about 50 rounds through it and it just keeps getting better, i use 23.3 grains of hodgdon h4198 and a sierra blitzking, with federal mr5 primers, and i get about 3/8 inch 5-shot groups at 100 yards on average, ive had a lot i could only find one hole, but was about .30 cal, and other days.......well lets not go there, so good luck.........
p.s. and my uncle bought a remington in .17 fireball, and hes not very happy with a progress compared to the .204 :D

So far the 204 has seven coyotes down and all were one shot DRT kills with a few spin and nips using 40 grain Hornedy V-max's at 4000 fps. Both the Hornedy 32's and 40's shoot into nickel and dime size groups out of my CZ and I'm loading 32's right now for ground squirrels and rock chucks this spring.
Our ground squirrels are coke bottle sized diggers and I expect the 32's to work well on them from my experience so far. I've got two friends that have been shooting the 204's since they were introduced and both have been having very good luck with theirs. I haven't tried any lighter bullets than the 32's.
I do know folks that are having good results on coyotes with the 35 grain Bergers, but their to pricey for my taist when the 40's seem to be working well.
