Any way it was an honest mistake I had a .204 Howa Carbon Supreme for sale
posted it on another site for sale or trade.
I had a response from a lad he was willing to trade me a $1000 and a model 70 243
I had no idea it was a Pre
anyway I met up with the fellow and we looked over the goods and made a deal.
Come to find out the gun was a pre 64 with a serial # of 578228

And no I am not out to sell the gun but what kinda price tag does it have ?
It has a Weaver 6X on it that is a sixties style and the gun it in almost mint condition it has one tinny scratch on the left side of the action


The 200 dollars was how much i paid for the scope that was on the Howa and was the only price difrence from when I bought the Howa for $1000

Members of this board are not certified apparaisers. Best bet would be to check out the various used gun value books and gunsmiths in your area.

By the serial number it is a late year 1963 production rifle. If the rifle is in the shape your indicating then you got a very good rifle for little investment. I wonder about several details on this transaction which could amount to nothing more than seller lack of knowledge. What ever it is he could be very unhappy with his decision to trade.

If my math is correct you got a pre-70 Winchester for $1200.00 not $200.00.

I gave him the Howa with a $200 dollar scope on it witch i paid $1000 for so I was into the gun $1200
We traded and he gave me 1000 dollars and a pre model 64 243
Guns america has the same rifle to a T selling for $2350
He did not know what he was trading and I did not tell I looked up the serial #
The shape the gun is in you would think its much much newer
not a 1963
