Hi:
I just started collecting Winchester 94's last year. I've got 4 of them now. I have a question about my oldest one. It is S/N 4,205,xxx. The trigger on this one doesn't seem to have any spring tension on it. It is kind of floppy in all positions of the lever action. It seems to work okay although I haven't fired it yet. The other newer 94's have spring tension on the triggers.
The gunsmith in the shop where I bought it said that all the 94's before S/N 4,580,000 have triggers like mine, and that it is perfectly normal. To me, it just seems like there is a spring broken or missing for the trigger. Does anyone know if the gunsmith is correct or not?

Maybe you can sort it out from this parts diagram. There are changes at that S/N.

Jack is correct,

Major internal changes began to occur at about that serial number. That model or vintage did not have the rebounding hammer and you are likely comparing it with a later model that has the rebounding hammer. What you describe sounds normal for that age Winchester.
