I looked but didn't find a thread about sighting in scopes on shotguns. As I said in my shooting glasses thread, I need scopes badly.
I intend to sight in as I would a rifle. Any tips for me prior to my maiden voyage?

I got some cardboard boxes washers and dryers come in from the Sears store and just taped on some meat wrapping paper to give me a large white target. Used a big black marker to make a circle in the center and sighted in the red dot scope on my turkey gun to the center of the pattern. I sighted my Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag in at 50 yards.
If this is a slug gun then you could sight it in just like a rifle.

If you're using smaller size shot shells or buck use this tip. Like mentioned above get a big size peice of cardboard. The bigger the better because you ususally don't know where the first shot will concentrate. Start at about 20-25yrds and shoot at least 2-3 shells at the center of the target. Go see where the pattern density is and adjust your scope accordingly. Shoot at least 2-3 more shells at the center of the target again and adjust. Repeat. Follow these steps as you adjust for more or less distance to get the most dense pattern at the center of the crosshairs. For every 5-6' you move back you'll probably have to adjust the scope or point of aim a little.
