I just found a cast iron Lyman #5 powder measure in some stuff my mother in law was getting rid of. Any problem with using Black powder in it? I'm a muzzleloader but there are times when I set up charges before I go to the range. Its in good shape. I just need to learn how to adjust the charge bar. Thanks for your help.

The 5 is the predecessor of the 55. If I recall, the 5 is the one with the solid body which includes the hopper. If this is correct, it is fine for Black. The only problem with the 55 is the plastic hopper. The 5 goes back to the Ideal days and was intended for Black originally.

Thank you for the info. I remember that measure sitting on a shelf at my in laws long before I know what it was for. Now I can put it to use.
