A short note to say "Hi"

I hardly seem to get out of the truck anymore these days. When I do get home, I am sleeping, eating, and attempting to catch up on the honeydo's so my wife (God Bless Her!!) can be comfortable in my absence.

I will be glad to see breakup this spring, and perhaps get more than a 34 hour break from the confines of the Kenworth. I enjoy my job, and think that the Dalton is the most interesting and challenging road on the map, but I am ready for a time out!

A week in a treestand, watching the leaves grow and the bears playing with old doughnuts, should be good for the soul.

Another month and a half or so and things should quiet down in Prudhoe a bit. As it is, I am running three tanker loads of fuel a week up the goat trail. Heaven forbid that Prudhoe Bay would run out of diesel fuel

My best to all,

Scotty

By Golly, Scotty - !

Thought you had fallen off the ends of the earth! Sure good to hear you're still breathing in and out.

Just saw a documentry on TV last night about the North Slope running low on production - down to less than a third of initial production. Does that mean they need 2/3 less diesel?

After getting caught up on honey-do's and hunting, come on back and visit.

Must be part of the Conspiricy Plan to suck the nation dry 8*)

VERY busy up there. Every tanker that can be somewhat safely dragged up the road is rolling these days. Gonna get worse too. The EPA mandate for Low Sulphur fuel is going to create more traffic on the Dalton and they are planning to truck Natural Gas down the road starting next year. NOT a job I want!!! That road was NOT designed to pull a loaded trailer south. Let alone a NG tanker that is not baffled. Gonna be torture for the drivers.

The last week or so there have been several folks from the lower 48 that have tried pulling loads up in their little Curb Sniffer tractors. Poor fellers got a very rude awakening. There is a reason our trucks are set up with a 300 inch wheelbase, double lockers in the rear and pushing 600 horses. I carry two sets of HEAVY triple rail chains (with carbide ice grousers) year round. Darn weather up there is nasty some days. The ill prepared usually slide backwards down some 14% grade and plug up the road...YIKES.

Getting set to head up for another round of rousing fun today. I got a digital camera for my 53rd B-Day so I am going to try this hi-tech stuff and do a picture "thingy" one of these days.

I sure miss being able to stop by and catch up on all the goins on hearabouts. My little life consists of yapping on the CB and watchin the weather while I burn off 310 gals of fossil fuel and dodge caribou.

I did hit a wolverine this winter. Didn't tear him up too bad. Will make a nice rug to hang in the sleeper berth ;*)

God Bless you all,

Scotty

Hi Reverend, we've certainly been the poorer for your absence. Do you have a cow catcher on that rig? Good to see you back. Guy
