I recently purchased a pre WWI scope for an old Mauser Sporter I inherited. The Scope is in good shape w/good optics. The problem is, I don't know how to adjust it and neither does the person I bought it from. The rifle is in great shape and I would like to shoot it. There is only the one adjustment knob at the top of the scope. The reticle is a four post center dot. Any help would be appreciated. The rings are Suhl(?) claw which fit into mounts on the rifle.

A pic of the elevation adjustment would help. Windage is adjusted w/ the rear mount/ base. Does the scope look similar to this? JP

Some info, it may help.

Thank You. You are absolutely correct. There was a small square protruding from the rear mount which adjusts with a wrench.
