This question is for a friend who is not online.

He has a .45 cal ML and is shooting sabots with lose powder. His first bullet will load fine but the second needs to be rammed down hard. He thinks he needs a thinner sabot, does he, or is it the powder.

I know very little about muzzle loaders, and he is computer illiterate, what do you suggest?

I'm a dedicated 45cal shooter. But will need more info to help out.

What bullet and powder is he using? What gun?

Here's a stab.

If he's using T7 powder, he will have to swab with a damp patch between each shot.

He may need to try same bullet with the Harvester Crushed Rib Sabot. It's the Blue colored one.

These (Crushed Rib 45cal Sabots) are a real God send. And work fabulously with Hornady 200g 10mm/40cal XTP's bought in bulk, thus saving BIG dollars, and shoot like laser beams in most 45cal rifles.

Anyway let me know the specs on what he is shooting and we can fine tune some helpful hints:)

BP or even Pyrodex requires a lube to soften powder fouling. If shooting BP he should forget the sabots completely.
All the advertising to the contrary not withstanding some of the "new improved stuff" does not work all that great or has other serious "side effects" that never seem to be discussed in the shooting press. Might discourage advertisers you know.
