Finished my bird season and the dog's today at the shooting preserve. Shot about 14 chukars between three of us and my dog. Had a great time and finished up my birds for the year. Time to clean the bird guns and put them away for the summer. Gotta get the shad fishing gear ready along with the trout fishing gear and the lever rifles to shoot the postal league. Happy Easter everybody and bring on Spring! I can't wait!:D
I know I forgot Turkey season but I don't hunt them because you can't hunt them with a dog and you have to get up in the middle of the night and I'm getting soft in my old age!

Dude! What did that poor dog do to deserve to get shot? ;)
Actually, sounds like you are getting the most out of your hunting season. Congratulations and good fishing!

Grammatical correctness....his statement can be read with different interpretations. I'm sure he meant the dog was part of the team of four that accounted for the 14 harvested birds. I did get a chuckle.
I'm jealous, I didn't get out bird hunting this year at all. NY is not a good state for upland birds and I didn't get out to KS to take in a hunt with my son-in-law. Turkeys are a different story here. We have lots of turkeys and I will get a couple during spring season in May.
Slow cook those Chukar in a low temp oven with some rub or on top of the stove with some cream of mushroom soup and an onion in a covered pan. That's good eatin!

That's the PA Dutch in me!:D Yes, the dog and I finished our bird season! Here in PA the bird hunting is not too good anymore. Basically there are no pheasants and the grouse hunting has been poor so if you want to train a bird dog here you have to join a shooting preserve and spend a little money. The plus is that shooting preserves are open from Sept to April although most close at the end of March.
