My Father In law has a Marlin Model 39a .22 cal. from 1959 (the yr. he purchased it). There is the number 682 under the stock and I have the serial number, starts with S. It also has a Tasco scope and mounts from 59 as well. Looking to sell but not sure of value. Any help would be appreciated. Condition is excellent.

Welcome to the forum Norseman. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
Ask at some of your local pawn or gun shops they will give you a much better idea of what those are selling for in your area. You can also check at some of the gun auction sites on the internet. Most of the folks here are shooters and hunters and are really not in the price estimation business.

We sold two 39As at an auction for my father's estate a little over a month ago. One sold for $400, the other for $450. One was made in the late 40s, the other the early 50s. The newer of the two was a dandy rifle and a great shooter and I was sad to see it go, mainly because it wasn't supposed to, but my sister got confused about which was which, didn't bid, and before I could save the day and throw in another bid the auctioneer said "SOLD! For $450!"
Out of curiosity, how much were you looking to get and how motivated are you to sell it?

In this area an excellent-condition 39a of that vintage would be a bargain priced at $300, and might be priced as as high as $450.

Norseman, if you have to sell it and it is in really good condition a circa 1950's 39A with scope should fetch $450 without effort. But if you have any love of firearms, I would keep it. 39's of this vintage are far better than the newer ones and in my humble opinion it is the best .22 lever-action ever made. There were 2 in my family that I'd love to have back.
