Nope. Savages don't recoil that sharp with smokeless. Mine are creampuffs to shoot. Now, if you stoke it with 150gr T7 or Black Max and top it with a 400+ grain slug........ that's another animal

Start with sr4759 42 43 grns and the 250 xtps supplyed very little recoil the if you really want try some .458 300 bullets remington and haervester black ribbed sabots both the above give under 1 inch at 100yrds in my mII, 300 sst also shoot great

I found mine was a bit stiff kicking until I added a limbsaver pad. That made it really pleasurable to shoot with 200 - 250gr bullets. Seldom use anything heavier. Try first with the xtp load bloodtrailer gave you and you will love it. (The 200gr are .40 cal and use the Blue MMP high pressure 50/40 sabot, same power charge as above)

had the gun out last sunday, useing accurate arms 5744 powder 44 grns, Hornady 250 gr hp/xtp bullets,MMP black sabots, winchester w209 primers, gun done good up to 125 yds, 2" groups from a gun bench, at a 150 yds was real eratic , group went to about 5" still in the kill zone but, is 125 yds about the max for consitant accracy for these guns? , i can live with the way it's shootin but would like to get the 150yd groups a lil tighter, most of my shots are less than 125 yds anyhow , thanks

You have to give quite a bit of time between shots or the barrel will heat up with successive shots. That might explain why your later shots at 150yd became eratic. It may take as much as 5 - 15 minutes between shots to avoid that problem depending on temperature. Those sabots soften in a warm barrel and the shots open up substantially. They become dreadful in a hot barrel.

For that reason I am planning to rebarrel mine with either a PacNor 45 or 40 cal barrel and shoot sabot free, but that will be a much different animal than the standard 50cal gun.
