A number of years back, a number of us were camped out for a big squirrel hunt. Since I am the only one who can cook worth a hoot I usually get made camp cook. I had prepared a big pot of red beans, sausage, rice and cornbread for the evening meal. The only mistake I made was adding one to many shots of JD Black Label to the cook. Everything was pretty good but there was a big problem with the cornbread. I don't know what I left out or added extra but it tasted BAD and smelled even worse. All of my so called good friends turned their noses up when they sampled the cornbread. Finally, one of the guys picked up the whole platter of cornbread and threw it out the door to the squirrel dog saying maybe he would eat it. The dog walked over, smelled of the cornbread and hiked his leg and took a big whiz right on my cornbread. Man, that was the ultimate insult. I have never lived that meal down.

Why is he licking his balls?

Trying to get the taste out of his mouth.

You admitted it right there jodum. May have been you or the ingrediants?
As simple as cornbread is, likley the ingrediants (benifit of the doubt goes to you). Dog urine sure wouldn't make it any better!

I like "Milkbones" with cheeze-whizz or peanut butter myself. Most dogs that I know agree (also very good with chili or beans)!

The dogs nose "rules" this topic.

It's my opinion jodum that those guys (and dogs) didn't hunt hard enough, because when you hunt hard enough, just about anything tastes good!

Last season, I was the first one of our party to arrive at "elk camp". I set up the 14x16 sleep tent, got the tarp over it, got firewood split and stacked by the wood stove in the tent. It was raining and I was drenched to the bone. I ate hot dogs fried in a skillet over the wood stove that night before everyone showed up, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had! I think I would have tossed your cornbread in the beans and sausage and been plenty happy!:D

I remember a rainy opening day & dad burning the sauce. Nothing beats eating spaghetti w/ burned sauce...

We bought him the first crock pot for the cabin...

That was the last time anything was burned 'cept the dinner rolls once in a while...
