Welcome to the forum. Rules are to be polite and join in.

The XTP is an expensive bullet for bullseye, where light lead wadcutter loads reign supreme in the .38 Special. Assuming this is a revolver, the crimp is needed so recoil doesn't inertially back the bullets of the remaining unfired rounds out of their cases and jam the cylinder from turning. Use a roll crimp die and press the crimp into the cannelure (the ring around the bullet that resembles a zipper with no pull tab).
