Got involved in a B.S. session at the local gunshop the other day (go figure) and someone said they had heard Savage was maybe going to bring back the model 99. Anybody else heard that? That would be way cool!

No, I did not hear a word but hope it's true. What a great rifle!

With modern computer controlled lathes and milling machines I certainly don't see the reason this fine old design couldn't be brought back and lots of folks still like them. Their used prices just keep going up and they were offered in some great calibers. I made up a bunch of 375/284's on them when I had the gun shop. Great little guide guns in Alaska.

I admired the 99A carbine with straight grip and shnabel forearm when it was introduced in 1971. I bought one for my wife in 250 and its has certainly downed a lot of game. As a side note, I wanted to buy it in .243 but none available we were told. The 250 turned out to be good choice after all.

In late 70's Savage altered it a little and made a model named 99-358. But it didn't sell well either and was dropped.

I'd like to see the 99A come back again.

This Rumor surfaced a few weeks ago on the "Hunting Firearms" Forum.
Everyone liked the idea, but nobody had any specific data.
