purchased a new savage ML-II muzzleloader, had it apart today messin with it , notice a little rust on the breech plug, nothing major , removed it with brass brush and gun solent, trying to use the least amount of oil i can to keep from fouling powder, is there a certain type of oil i can purchase that is made to use on smokeless powder muzzleloaders that wont foul the powder? Thanks

I leave a film of oil in the bores of my muzzleladers and run dry patches down the bore prior to shooting them. Not aware of any oil suitable for contact with smokeless powder without causing some contamination. Take care...

Like Oberndorf says most will foul powder. Kroil seems to be an excellent oil for all types of firearms. You can get it from Brownell's.
