I was on line viewing an auction waiting for a Colt 1911 I wanted to come up. A Winchester - Model 94 - saddle ring carbine in .44 cal came up. Now I used to have one I bought in 1969 when I was in the Army in Germany. (The one I had did not have a saddle ring) I was forced to sell it in 1972. For some reason I just loved that rifle. It probably never had over 50 rounds through it. I thought the price on the one at auction was kind of low so I bid… no one upped my bid, and I got it!
The one I bought is unfired in the original box, zero damage, with the original paperwork. I think the un-mailed warranty may be there too! It is not in my hot little hand yet… a grandson is holding it until I can pick it up. He has instructions not to use it and store it carefully; I told him if he had to shoot something shoot the Colt 1911. Are Model 94’s in .44 hard to find? You guys think I should sell it or keep it? I never got the chance to deer hunt with the one I had. I suspect it would work well for deer? Shoot it or a good cleaning and keep on display?
