might be looking to sell this pre64. it was my great uncles that never really took to hunting but tried it after WWII. he bought this new and it is probably 99.9% clean (looks brand new). Just wondering the approximate value. I am a bolt man myself, figured someone could get better use out of this. i have always just kept it as a display rifle.
Thanks

fireman, yours sounds a little nicer than mine. i bought mine as an investment years ago, but made the mistake of shooting it some. i got to where i started leaving other favorites in the safe. shot a few deer, and my investment fizzled to zero. i could never part with it now. oh well, i got a good tip on a company called enron while back, maybe that will be a safer investment.

fireman,
You can use a few auctions to sell it. My preference is Gunbroker.com. Many "Winnies" are listed there but here is a good tip. Take excellent pictures of the whole gun. Up close in the writing areas and the carry areas, plus the wood and barrel on both sides. You would be amazed at how sorry many of the pictures are. And, I have noticed that if your gun is that good, and you display it correctly, that these carbines sell faster and higher. Be honest and forthright in your evaluations and you'll sell every time. A '53 that is 99% should fetch $700 and higher if it is displayed correctly. Many idiots ask for the moon for a gun that is only 75% and they will be listed forever....until they bring them down. I would inquire about buying it myself but I have 15 winnies already...and climbing.
Good Luck !!
