I just mounted this Burris Fullfield II on my Tikka 3 Lite in 06. This is the best glass I have bought to date. It is very bright in low lite.

Hey there Chief.
I've got a 3-9 on my Tikka 243 win. I'm thinking about going up to the 4.5-14 probably in Burris. Do they still have the deal where you can get the spotting scope too? I've always liked the Burris.
I posted a pic of my Turkey and the first snake kill last Saturday on the game pole.

Good Luck
Tom

Chief,
I've had great service from the 3-9x Burris FFII's, as well as two signature-series scopes. I think Burris is putting out a great product. I just put a 4-12x Burris LaserScope on a 243 Win Rem 700, and while it hasn't had but 50 rounds through it, it is doing well. Launched a few ground squirrels this past weekend. Good luck with your setup.

I think that deal is still available. I got mine local and they had split up the package.

Shot the Tikka yesterday. I am getting a flier. I was locked down pretty good at the bench. It still could be me but I was wondering if you guys had any analysis of these targets. This was 100 yds. 7 rounds. The high right and low left sound like my golf stroke.

Although they're not gun mag groups Chief, they're not too bad! Could be a barrel pressure point, although I'd put a few more through targets to see if the flyer is something consistently happening. Are they reloads or factory rounds?

Those are my handloads. I have a Rem 760 that shoots 3 shot touching groups with them. I still could be a crimp difference or something. It was once fired brass. Primer pockets seemed consistant. This is a hunting load so I do crimp it. It feeds slick and it is good enough but I am not used to the fliers. I have lightened the adjustable trigger as far as I can. It is crisp and consistant. I was getting a lot of jump off the bag that was up and left. I had not noticed the jump before yesterday. Maybe I was not as consistant as I thought with my bag placement.

I guess there's always a chance the scope could be bad, although I kind of doubt it based on my experience with Burris. Easy way to check though. Switch out the scope onto your 760 and see what you get for groups. Are you getting the flyer always on your 3rd or 4th shot, or is it random? If consistent on 3rd or 4th shot, I'd say bedding or barrel stress problems. If random, could be the scope, or maybe the crimp. You might try some loads without the crimp?

I will never touch the 760. I learned that the hard way. I have had two scopes on the Tikka already. The banner I had on it was only shot at 50 yds but it showed the same tendancy. It is random. The barrel is free floating. I may back off on the lug screw a little to see how that does.

Thanks

I understand that Chief; I hate to mess with a rifle that's shooting well! The only thing I can say is check the crown, and check the crimping, and shoot a group or three without crimping. And, as you suggest, backing off on the lug screw a bit and see what that does for you.

I have been using a FFII on a 300WBY and it has held up fine so far. They are a decent scope for the money and with the free GPS it's hard to go wrong.
