On CZ's websight they list the barrel twist for a .30-06 and a .308 at 1 in 12. This seams kinda slow to me from what i have scene the average is 1 in 10 for 30 caliber rifles. Would a 1 in 12 twist elimnate the use of bullets in the 180g+ range? I am sure it would stablize 165g bullets but i preffer heaver bullets. I find I get a lot less meat dammage with them. I like the rifles and would like to get one but I dont know if a 1 in 12 twist is what I want.

That indeed may be a problem, though I havn't seen anyone on the forum complain about it. It will be interesting to see if any CZ 550 owners out there with 06's have a comment about your question.

1 in 12 will be fine for bullets of 180 grains. My old Win 70 .308 had a 1 in 12 twist and was one of the most accurate 30 caliber rifles I've owned. It handled bullets up to the 200 grain Speer spitzer with no difficulty.
The only bullets that may give you trouble are heavy VLD-type match bullets or the longest, heaviest all-copper bullets. By the way, length of the bullet is the critical factor, not just the weight. Avoid extremely long bullets and you will be fine.

12" is standard twist for the .308 Winchester. The 10" rate for the .30-06 was a holdover from the .30-40 and early .30-06 military loads that used a 220 gr. RN bullet. As said above, bullet length (aspect ratio actually) is what dictates the needed twist rate, not weight. So long as you keep with bullets no longer that a typical 180 SPBT bullet there will be no problems with the 12" twist.
