Finally. after all these years, I have ordered my long awaited .257 Weatherby Mag. I will soon recieve my Weatherby Vanguard Sub-Moa. There were other options out there, but I figured a rifle guaranteed under an inch with boughten ammo would surely respond well to careful reloading. Plus I think this rifle looks very good, tan and black webbed stock on blued steel.

Congrats jsr. Now for cases, bullets, powder and primers. Have to say I'm 25 caliber deprived. After nearly 50 years of shooting, gunsmithing, hunting and just fooling around with guns 25 caliber shooters just never showed up at my door. I've done the 6.5 thing, the .224 thing, the .284 thing and even the 20 caliber thing along with a few bigger bores, but never a 25.

The Weatherby should be a dandy rifle for deer and antelope and with fairly mild recoil compared to other magnums a plus to shoot. Now your going to have to tell us how well it shoots.

Good for you. You are going to be in for a bit of a shock when you see the prices of Weatherby factory ammo, and the brass is expensive too.

But they're fun.

I've been experimenting reforming 300 Win Mag and 7mm Mag cases, and will post some results when I get some time to get to the range.

Yes, I didn't even order any ammo. I just ordered dies and I already run a 25-06 so the components and powders are all the same. If you haven't tried the .25's, you have missed some great rounds. They are my favorite family. The .257 Weatherby will be my anything round.

A fine choice jsr! I too like the looks of the tan/black Wby stock. Only exposure I've had to the Wby's is from brothers - one who has a 300 Wby Vanguard (oiled stock with black forend tip from about 20 yrs ago, and the other who's a lefty that has various 240's, 257's, and 7mm's, some German and some Japanese. They're all nice rifles.

Let us know how yours shoots!

I will post shooting results for sure when I get ammo made up or bought and run a test. The factory test target just says 100 grn. S.P. and is 3 in around .400's I have the rifle already and it does look nice.
